About

Mix Toping is an editorial index of hotels. It covers four categories — art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels — and describes eleven properties across them.

What we do

Each entry is written as prose. We describe where a hotel stands, what it is built around and what a guest would actually notice. Facts stay general and true to the character of the property; anything that would need sourcing or would date quickly is left out.

What we don't do

There are no star ratings here, no scores, no user reviews and no reader submissions. We take no bookings and hold no inventory. Nothing is sponsored, and no hotel pays to appear.

How the categories work

A category exists when we have entries worth reading in it, and stays as short as it honestly needs to be. Ice hotels has one entry for exactly that reason — the real supply is small, and we would rather run a short category than a padded one.

Geography

The index is not tied to any one country. Properties are listed wherever they are, and a category is grouped by premise rather than by region.
